Community College
(English & Math)

Fully funded English language classes in 4 different levels from basic to advanced take place every Monday & Wednesday, Additionally, we offer functional skills courses with food and drink and fully funded examination booking and certification after passing the exam.

History

Pars Community offers free English language courses to those in need. We started to run these courses in 2019 and we tried to improve the standards every single year until today for 6 years. These courses are designed to help individuals who have limited English proficiency and may be struggling to communicate their basic needs. They are also beneficial to those who cannot afford the fees associated with attending traditional language classes or who may lack the confidence to attend classes in a formal setting. By offering free English language courses, the Pars Community is helping to break down language barriers and promote integration within the community. Participants who successfully complete the course are awarded a certification, which can be a valuable addition to their CV and may increase their chances of finding employment later on. Through their commitment to providing education and support to those in need, the Pars Community is helping to create a stronger, more inclusive community for all.

Examination

The final exam is designed to assess students' language proficiency accurately and objectively, with an emphasis on their ability to understand and use the English language effectively.

The exam consists of a written component and an oral component, both of which are administered in a controlled environment under the supervision of qualified instructors. The written component includes a range of tasks designed to assess students' reading, writing, and grammar skills, while the oral component focuses on speaking and listening skills.

The written component of the exam includes multiple-choice questions, short-answer questions, and essay questions, which are designed to test students' ability to understand written texts, use grammatical structures correctly, and express their ideas effectively in writing. The oral component of the exam is conducted in a one-on-one interview format and involves a range of tasks designed to assess students' ability to use the language in real-life situations, such as describing pictures, telling stories, and engaging in discussions on a range of topics.

Certification

Absolutely, after completing the final exams and passing the English course at Pars Community, students will receive a certificate and an award to recognize their achievements. The certificate is an official document that indicates the student's proficiency in the English language and serves as proof of their achievement. This certificate can be used by the student to demonstrate their language proficiency to potential employers, educational institutions, and other relevant stakeholders.

In addition to the certificate, Pars Community may also provide an award to celebrate the student's success and to motivate them to continue their language-learning journey. The award may come in the form of a trophy, a plaque, a voucher or a monetary prize, depending on the resources and preferences of the foundation. This award serves as a tangible symbol of the student's hard work and dedication throughout the course and can be a source of pride and motivation for the student.

Functional Skills

In addition to offering free English language courses, the community also offers functional skills courses to individuals who may not be able to afford the fees associated with attending formal colleges. These courses are particularly beneficial to those for whom English is not their first language, as they may find it challenging to attend full English math lessons. To make the learning experience more accessible, the Pars Community provides hot food and refreshments during break times, and they also pay for the final exam booking for participants. This ensures that individuals who may be struggling financially have the necessary resources to complete the course and gain valuable skills that can help them in their personal and professional lives. The Pars Community is committed to expanding its course offerings in the future and continuing to provide education and support to those in need.

New ESOL Course Launched at Pars Community

We are excited to announce the launch of our new English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) course, which began in June 2025 at the LCVS Building, home of the Liverpool Citizen Centre, where the Pars Community is based. This comprehensive eight-month program is designed to enhance English language skills and will culminate in a final examination in February 2026.

Course Details and Certification

The ESOL course is equivalent to ESOL Level 1 and aligns with B1 or B2 proficiency levels on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Students who successfully pass the final speaking, writing, and listening exams will receive a certification, recognizing their achievement and proficiency in English. The course is tailored to equip students with the skills needed for real-world communication and further educational or professional opportunities.

Selection Process and Class Structure

In May 2025, we conducted three entrance tests to select candidates for the course. From these, we accepted 20 students who demonstrated the required aptitude to join the program. For those who missed the initial registration, we have created a waiting list to accommodate late applicants. Classes are held every Monday and Tuesday, providing consistent and engaging English lessons to prepare students for the final exam.
